So, here’s the thing. I am really good at taking care of other people. I’m not as good by any means of taking care of myself.

For 2017, this will change. Again, I make this resolution. Again, I am determined to meet it.

I’ve already taken several steps:

1. I’ve signed up for Run the Edge’s 2017 miles in 2017. https://register.runtheedge.com/event/2017-Miles-in-2017
I am going to run at least 1 5K a month, and by March I want to start training for a longer distance (10K? Half? keep your eyes here)

There are challenges to be done here, also. It’s not quite double my usual mileage, and I figure I’ll work towards the goal of doubling my yearly miles. 10% at a time is the goal.

2. I’m signing up for a Diabetes Prevention class at my local Y. It’s a long term thing. I’ve done something like this before, and evidently I keep needing to learn it.

3. Recommitting to food prep, effective Jan. 2. I’ve been meal planning forever, and food prep is just the next step. I’ll be using my Plan to Eat account to add meals for food prepping.

4. Getting to bed at a better hour. Electronics off at 10 pm, bed by 11. This will lead to getting up at 0630, which will help me achieve my goals of riding the bus to work at least twice a week. More on that later.

5. Back to the Mediterranean diet, with less processed foods and more fruits and veggies.

6. Learn to meditate, and do this with husband at least once a week.

7. Embrace mindfulness.

Of course there’s much, much more, but this is a good start.

Update: The Diabetes Prevention class is starting on Tuesday. I’ve been good at meal prepping but not at tracking.
I’ve really not done a good job about the diet or the getting to bed. Will recommit.
